Force Play

SECTION 33. A play in which a runner legally loses the right to occupy a base by reason of the batter becoming a runner.

Note: On a dropped third strike, when the batter is not entitled to run to first base, any advancing runner must be tagged to be declared out. This is not a force play situation.
