Batter-Runner SECTION 10. A term that identifies the offensive player who has just finished the time at bat and is either put out or becomes a runner before the play ends.

NCAA 2-7 Base on Balls

Base on Balls SECTION 7. An award of first base granted to a batter who, during the time at bat, receives four pitches outside the strike zone (see 7-5) or following a signal from the defensive team’s head coach to the umpire that the coach intends to intentionally walk the batter.

NCAA 2-6 Base Coach

Base Coach SECTION 6. A team member or a coach, in proper uniform, who is stationed in the coach’s box at first or third base.

Base SECTION 5. One of four points that must be touched by a runner in order to score a run; more usually applied to the canvas or rubberized bags except for the rubber home plate (see 1-6, 1-7 and 8-1).

NCAA 2-4 Ball

Ball SECTION 4. A pitch or partial delivery that does not enter the strike zone in flight and meets one of five criteria (see 7-5).

NCAA 2-3 Balk

Balk SECTION 3. An illegal act by the pitcher with a runner or runners on base entitling all runners to advance one base (see 9-3).
