    I’m a little late on this (just a couple years).  An infield fly is really a judgement call.  Ordinary effort?  Who’s to say?  The sun, wind, mist, lights, whatever.  The umpire says it will be an extraordinary effort and does not call it.  The ball drops.  What are the runners to do…..read the umps mind?  I guess if the ball is popped up in or near the infield just shout it out without taking anything into consideration.
